Graders about "The Great Camel Experiment" and its role in Calhoun
County history.
A GPR Survey was conducted at Old Town Cemetery, aka Cemetery on the Ridge, on July 4th. 20 unmarked burials were located. A GPR Survey was performed at the Indianola Cemetery in March 2022. history. o Matagorda Island Lighthouse Final: Both applications for 2021 markers were approved by the THC. o Marker Update: The "Springs of Calhoun County" Historical Marker has been installed on FM1090, near Park Rd.
o October 29 - Texas Camel Corps - Presentation to 7th grade students about "The Great Camel Experiment" and its role in Calhoun County history. o Resubmitted historical marker application for the Matagorda Island Lighthouse as an Undertold Marker Application. o Received approval from Texas Historical Commission for historical marker application - "The Chocolate Community". o Approved and funded AT-6 Texan life-size silhouette for installation at Port O'Connor Community Center. (Silhouette by Jal, New Mexico artist Brian Norwood. o Received headstone found in Hayes County missing from the Indianola Cemetery (Margaret Clement). o Received headstone (piece with date) that was at the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg missing from the Indianola Cemetery (David F.
